MBABANE – The Waterford Kamhlaba College hall was turned into a classy fashion house on Monday night.

This was during the annual Glam Trash Fashion Show, which is a competition where students have to design outfits that are completely made of what most people would usually consider trash such as used plastic bags and old newspapers.

Witnessing the showcase were former students of the college, teachers, parents and friends of the designers.
The aim of the event is to create awareness on how to save the environment plus to encourage students to be creative in order to reduce litter and contribute to a cleaner environment.
Competing on the night were eight talented fashion designers who showcased nothing but creative designs which made it difficult for the judges to come up with the winner.
The judges for the night included fashion blogger and Swazi Jive Co-Director Lindelo Dlamini, Face Models Director Sasha Groening, top designer Fundzi of Zubani Designs and artist Mbongeni Dlamini.

Designs

In the end, it was the duo of Kylah Holmes and Nicolette Sauramba whose designs were under the theme ‘Composure’ who emerged victorious.
The runners-up were Mamelang and Tyler who showcased designs under the theme ‘Amazonian Goddess’.
Other designers who showcased on the night included Khanya under the theme ‘Recycled retro’, Holly and Sam under the theme ‘Bisoux’, Alex under the theme ‘Over again’, Alice under the theme ‘A knockout design’ and Likhwa and Ofentse under the theme ‘Just to get diploma’.

It wouldn’t have been a perfect night without performances and Kid Nice, a former student, wowed the audience with two songs, which had everyone singing along.
Also entertaining the guests was a talented band of four students who use the stage name ‘Something Sweet’.

They rendered a song titled ‘Mash-up of Royals and Valerie’ which was loved by the audience.
The event ended at around 8pm and the winners got cash and gift vouchers.
