MBABANE – Local band, The Plateau Roots, will be performing in Mozambique this weekend.

The show, which is scheduled for tomorrow night, is hosted by Maputo’s reggae group Zion Vibration.
Confirming the trip was Ambrose Zwane, the Managing Director of Plateau Roots.

“The main purpose for the tour is networking and exposure, Mozambique is one of countries that are developing fast on ICT and their music industry is vibrant, compared to a number of countries in SADC,” Zwane said.

The Plateau Roots is a roots-reggae group based in Mzilikazi/Siteki.  The band recorded their first album last year and have already participated in a number of national shows in the country. They are in the list of local artists and groups who have been confirmed for the much-anticipated Simunye Fun Fair which takes place at the end of this month.

“Yes, we are happy that The Plateau Roots will be one of the local groups from the Lubombo region to perform at the Fun Fair. Soon the group will be launching its eight-track album titled ‘The truth is the truth’,” said Zwane.

“The group will be coming back home on Sunday morning and during the trip we will try and explore promotion companies since the group strives to broaden its network to a number of countries in the region,” he further said.

The group, which has also performed at the much loved Sibebe Friday Night Live, is made up of three members. Zwane is the group’s acoustic guitar player and leading vocalist. Gundy Ngwenya is the bass guitarist and backing vocalist while Itumeleng Magagula is the percussionist and backing vocalist.
