MBABANE – Local song bird Nomzamo Zaza Dlamini is now an official member of South African leading mass choir Joyous Celebration.

Nomzamo ‘Zaza’ Dlamini started her rehearsals with the group three weeks ago. The rehearsals were  led by seasoned music director and composer Lindelani Mkhize.
She is the second Swazi to have an opportunity of being part of the choir, following Avis Ndlovu who formed part of the choir’s recording in Joyous Celebration Chapter Six.

Ndlovu led one of the choir’s songs titled ‘Bawo Ndixolele’.
Zaza was spotted by one of the choir members who then introduced  her to the choir’s technical team.

Successful

She was then called for auditions that were held a month ago and was successful.
She was officially introduced to the rest of the members last week Monday and has been rehearsing.
The rehearsals are in preparation for the group’s scheduled performance in Carnival City this Easter weekend.
Zaza who is currently in Johannesburg, confirmed that she was now part of the group something that was very exciting.

“I am excited about this. I can confirm that I am now part of the group. I am already rehearsing and it’s been a week now,” she said.
“I am excited about the new experience and I hope to learn a lot while still with the group.”

She said she would continue being a soloist as she already has a number of invitations mostly in the corporate sector.
“My fans will still see me as I will not be leaving my career as a soloist,” she said.

Booked

“There are already gigs which have to do with the corporate sector and I have been booked for those events and will be performing there,” she said.
Zaza has already learnt 39 songs of the Joyous Celebration’s latest album. She had to learn them all within one week . The group recently released its 18th album.

She said she was ready for her first performance and she believes it will be an exciting one.
“I already know most of the songs that are in the choir’s latest album I believe my first performance will be an exciting one.” she said.
