MANANA SHINES ON DONALD’S NEW ALBUM
MBABANE – Award-winning musician Manana has been featured on South African artist Donald’s exciting new album titled ‘Train of Love II’. This highly-anticipated album is now officially available on all digital platforms, and Manana has lent his talent to the track ‘Power Trip’, which is the eighth song on the 12-track album. It is worth noting that this is not the first collaboration for Manana with a prominent South African musician. He previously worked with the late AKA on the project ‘Mass Country’, further establishing his presence in the Southern African music scene.
Organisations
Over the past few months, Manana has been steadily broadening his horizons and has received various accolades from esteemed music organisations such as Spotify and Amazon Music. As part of his rising star status, he was added to Spotify’s Radar Programme last year. This programme, which began nearly four years ago, is specifically designed to spotlight emerging talent on a global scale, showcasing promising new sounds and assisting artists in expanding their international reach on the journey to superstardom. In addition to his involvement in Donald’s latest project, Manana recently released a 16-track album titled ‘Our Broken Hearts Mend’.
This album takes listeners on an intimate musical journey, allowing fans to connect with him on a deeper emotional level as he shares stories that resonate with many. The impact of Manana’s achievements goes beyond his personal success; it also sets a significant example for aspiring musicians in Eswatini. According to the Eswatini National Arts and Culture Policy, more local artists are encouraged to follow in Manana’s footsteps. The policy outlines government’s commitment to protecting the economic and moral rights of artists, emphasising the need to prevent exploitation of their work.

“Government will enact relevant legislation to protect the economic and moral rights of the artists and their creations from exploitation. Investment will be sought to enable the development, recording, publishing and marketing of Swati music at home and in the international market,” reads part of the policy. This concerted effort to support local talent is crucial in fostering a thriving music industry.
With recent developments, artists like Manana can reap the rewards of their creativity through royalties and increased opportunities, helping to propel Eswatini’s music scene into the spotlight. His collaborations with notable South African musicians and his commitment to creating heartfelt music showcases the richness and talent present in the kingdom. There is no doubt that with the appropriate support and continued dedication, local artists have the potential to make significant strides on international platforms.
