MBABANE – Inyatsi Group has sponsored the five pupils who emerged victorious in this year’s Inyatsi Group Schools Arts and Culture Competition.

Inyatsi bid farewell to the pupils with a sponsorship of E20 000 yesterday at the Ministry of Education and Training alongside the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), which bought flight tickets for the pupils amounting to E53 600. The five pupils who were outstanding during the Inyatsi Schools Arts and Culture Competitions are set to represent the kingdom in South Africa. This will be during the upcoming Robben Island Schools Festival scheduled for this weekend.

Representing

The students that will participate in the festival are Mnelisi Mkhabela from Elangeni High School, who will be representing Sibhaca, Asande Mkhonta from Ekukhanyeni High School, who will be doing drummies, Smilwesihle Dlamini from Manzini Nazarene High School, Sibahle Shongwe from Moyeni High School and Billy Matsenjwa from Vulamasango High School.

This was revealed by the Inyatsi Group Schools Arts and Culture Competitions President, Ronnie Gamedze, during the prize giving ceremony. Gamedze shared that this endeavour will help expose the talent of the pupils.  “This will help expose the talent of our learners, which is in line with Eswatini curriculum reforms that saw the advent of subjects like expressive arts, health, and physical education that forms part of competency-based curriculum. I would like to thank all the principals of schools for letting these young people compete. We cannot forget the teachers who work hard training them, this does not go unnoticed,” Gamedze said.

Inyatsi Group was represented by Gcinile Nxumalo, who announced the E20 000 sponsorship, citing they are excited to have participated in this year’s edition of the competition. “As the pupils are set to represent the kingdom in Cape Town, as Inyatsi Group, we will be sponsoring their trip with E20 000. We are happy to have played a role in supporting these young people as they prepare for their trip. This sponsorship will cater for their allowances, toiletry, track suits, as well as sneakers, which they will wear during the trip,” Nxumalo said.

The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) was represented by Thembekile Dlamini, who is the ENCAC Culture Manager. During her remarks, she shared  that they bought flight tickets for the pupils and also encouraged them to represent the kingdom well during the competition in South Africa. “I would like to urge the pupils to make sure they represent us well and also showcase our beautiful culture. We will give them traditional clothes, which they will wear during the competition.

Principal

We also bought them flight tickets, which amount to E53 600,” she said. Acting Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Training Naniki Mnisi also commended the pupils for the effort they dedicated during the competitions. She also encourages other companies to follow in the footsteps of Inyatsi Group and make it their mandate to sponsor young people in the kingdom. “I am happy for the pupils, as they will get to experience what it is like to board a plane.

Winners

As they are travelling to South Africa, I would like to advise them to take care of themselves and remember that they have to be the leaders of tomorrow. I am positive these pupils were selected fairly when announcing winners and we hope we will get to see more of them travelling abroad through the competition. I would also like to advise them to make a swift return after the competition as lessons will be continuing in their respective schools,” Mnisi said.
