Mbabane – Local actress Hloniphile Sihlongonyane urges the youth to believe in themselves and follow their dreams.

This was during her recent appearance at Mbabane Theatre Club, where she was the MC during the Africa Day celebration. Sihlongonyane is a Liswati  actress who is featured on South Africa’s top soap operas ILembe and Isitha. She is not the first liSwati to get the opportunity to act in SA. The likes of Gedlembane, Sithera, Sebenta Mhlanga, and Nomzamo ‘Zamo’ Dlamini have been also breaking ground in the rainbow nation. Having joined the two drama series, Sihlongonyane will benefit in the sense that she will gain exposure, new fans and a new audience. She will also be able to network and further make it to prestigious shows just like the likes of Trevor Noah, who made his way to Europe having started in South Africa.

During an interview with the actress, she shared that she was humbled by the love she received during the Africa Day celebration. “The love I receive from emaswati is heartwarming. What I loved the most about directing the celebrations was that I had never hosted before but people were excited after seeing me the past weekend. Seeing that people love me really made me to feel special, especially because I am also a lover,” Sihlongonyane said. She also said that when the crowd was cheering for her and screaming her name, that was where she got the strength from, and those screams motivated her to keep working hard and not let the people cheering her on down. “My career has been a smooth ride so far. I cannot complain much about anything yet because I am also still a newbie in the industry, and from the love I get from the people, I can tell that I am still in the right track,” she said.

The actress also said it is very important that young people put God at the centre of everything they do for themselves. ”As a young person in this industry, I believe respect will get you far in life. One must humble themselves and be willing to learn. When you are given a role, make sure you excel and give it your all. Sacrifice your time and learn how everything is done. I emphasise respect. Please have respect for the people around you because respect and the way you carry yourself will take you further in life.’ Sihlongonyane said. The actress also shared that she is currently directing one of the most popular shows produced in the country, ‘Ingcinamba’ which airs on Channel YemaSwati, where she said she was  impressed by the talent that she works with.
