MBABANE – The MTN Bushfire was officially launched at the World Travel Market (WTM) in Africa during a networking luncheon held in partnership with Eswatini Tourism.

This was revealed on the MTN Bushfire social media pages, where they shared moments captured during the activation. “As Eswatini’s biggest tourism event, we were happy to join the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) and our partners The Royal Villas Eswatini, Happy Valley Hotel, Big Game Parks and Eswatini Air at this year’s WTM Africa, to promote destination Eswatini and engage with the travel industry from across the continent about this year’s edition of the festival,” read the post. This year’s MTN Bushfire will be hosted from May 31 up until June 2 at House On Fire. Worth mentioning is the fact that the festival was launched on April 5 at the Amphitheatre. It was launched by His Excellency, the Right Honourable Prime Minister, Russell Mmiso Dlamini, who was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Thuli Dladla.

Festival

MTN Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wandile Mtshali announced a sponsorship of E5 million for this year’s 17th edition of the festival. The launch was also attended by European Union (EU) Ambassador Dessislava Choumelova, who also highlighted their plans for this year’s EU Bushfire Schools Festival. This year’s edition is themed ‘Fireworks’, and according to the organisers of the festival, the theme manifests fire as action, dynamically presenting festivalgoers, partners, sponsors and traders with the opportunity to bring their fire for sustained positive impact and a legacy for the communities we live in.

Initiative

Through this theme, the festival will introduce a new volunteer initiative, as revealed by the festival’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Bongani Dlamini, during the recent launch. “We are bringing ‘Fireworks’ to life with a new volunteer initiative, the annual ‘Bring Your Fire Volunteer Week’, as well as an opportunity for changemakers or a dynamic organisation that aligns with our MTN Bushfire’s Bring Your Fire values, offering free activation space in the Bring Your Fire Zone, to advocate their cause as well as visibility on our digital platforms,” Dlamini said. Some of the musicians that will perform during this year’s MTN Bushfire include Lloyiso, Musa Keys, Makhadzi, Muzi, Sarnilo, Camilla George, Blue Lab Beats, Radio Sechaba, Madalisto, Umuti, Filah Lah Lah, DJ Sebb, Feten Feten, Bongeziwe Mabandla and Maleh, to name a few.
