MBABANE – Local Gospel sensation Phathwakahle Mabuza attended the Mother of All Gospel Shows as she was scheduled to perform, but ended up not taking to the stage.

On Tuesday evening Phathwakahle shared a post on her Facebook page saying she would love to render an apology for not performing at the Mother of All Gospel Shows on Saturday. The post also mentioned that the organisers of the show failed to fully honour the terms of an agreement which they had made. The Mother of All Gospel Shows was held at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition centre, Manzini on Saturday. Some of the local Gospel artists who performed werw; Linda Dlamini, Usindiso Lamawesile, Ndawonye Christ Worshipers, Gcebile Nkambule, Ntandoyenkhosi Ngcaphalala, Prophetic Voice Mass Choir, Make Siwela, Nothando Dlamini, Sphiwo Ndoni, Portia Praise, Fakazi Samuel, as well as the 14 aspiring musicians who recorded their demos during the show. Phathwakahle also showed up for the show but ended up not performing.

Gcina Mabuza who is part of the management team for Phathwakahle said the organisers of the Mother of All Gospel Shows did not meet certain agreements which they had discussed earlier.  “When an artist is booked to perform, there are usually agreements that you make with the organisers so that the artist can perform. We asked that certain things be done before Phathwakahle can get on the stage, but those things couldn’t be done hence she ended up not performing. The Mother of All Gospel Show is a highly esteemed show, it is a show for emaSwati and we highly respect. We are also trying to address what happened in a respectful way because they didn’t come to us to say that they can’t meet our obligations. If they did that it would have been better,” Mabuza said.

“We had asked to perform earlier since Phathwakahle had been booked for another show in Johannesburg. Initially, they expected her to perform at the Mother of All Gospel Shows around 4am. We negotiated with the organisers and asked to perform early than the proposed time and they said they will see where they slot her. They never came back to us or communicate and they did not keep to the agreement we made together,” Mabuza clarified. He further shared that they haven’t talked with the organisers since the show took place. “The organisers have not yet come back to us, to say anything. There hasn’t been any phone call or any kind of communication. What we did, is that we rendered an apology so that fans so that they are not confused as to why Phathwakahle couldn’t perform yet she appeared in the shows promotional posters. She was present during the show with her backers, the team exited the venue at around 5am in the morning and the organisers had not said anything by then,” Mabuza shared.

Mabuza also shared that Phathwakahle is currently has a busy schedule which mostly South African events. During her appearance at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre on Saturday she was coming from SA from another show. On Sunday, which was the following day after the Mother of All Gospel Shows she was expected to go back to SA for another show, thus she had to leave early. The Gospel artist recently performed in Cape Town with other Gospel groups including Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors. According to her management team, for the show in Cape Town the organisers had to buy her out from her two shows, so she could remain in Mother city for the two extra day. “It’s a huge hour for her to be at that level where organisers from another country are buying her out of other shows she is booked for, because they want her to perform at their show,” shared Mabuza.
