iF’S LOUNGE OPENS DOORS FOR YAMKELA’S BIRTHDAY

MANZINI – Local spinner Yamkela successfully hosted his 28th birthday celebration at iF’s Lounge Restaurant and Bar at Moneni on Friday.

Yamkela is an urban dance DJ and mega mixer who is known for his intriguing talent of song selection and transitioning while on the decks. His hard work saw him making waves on South African prominent radio stations such as 5FM, YFM and Radio 2000. All these radio stations recognised the local spinner’s talent and played most of his mixes during their live broadcasts.

Yamkela’s birthday celebration was supported by other local DJ’s, such as DJ MBO, Mistosoul, DJ Wacko and Zee The DJ. The birthday celebration kicked off at 6pm with the ‘Do it’ hitmaker, Mistosoul, who delivered a solid Deep House set to warm up the patrons as the night was still young. During his set, there were few patrons around but he managed to keep them entertained with his sound, while some were still making their way to the venue. Mistosoul delivered a two-hour set and made way for versatile spinner DJ Wacko.

Maintained

Wacko maintained the Deep House tone introduced by Mistosoul but his set later elevated to Afro-tech, which ultimately brought more energy into the room. Patrons gravitated towards the lounge music area to showcase their dance skills as he was playing. As time flew seamlessly, upcoming female DJ, Zee The DJ, took over at the decks and delivered an intriguing Amapiano mix, which got patrons repeatedly shouting ‘‘Yes girl’’. Zee The DJ’s set, which ushered in the birthday boy to the decks, lasted an hour. As the tone was already set by the promising upcoming spinner, Yamkela maintained it and continued to play Amapiano.

He began his set by playing Aymos and Kabza De Small’s record-breaking amapiano single titled ‘Iparty Yami’. He played with energy and kept the patrons on their feet for over an hour.
After he had graced the decks, local spinner DJ MBO took over and gave the patrons a time of their lives. He was a marvel to watch, boasting solid and massive experience on the decks. He was the last to play during the birthday celebration that went on until 3am.
