BOXING INCLUDED AT BIGGEST BRAAI THIS YEAR

MBABANE - Put on your boxing gloves, Eswatini Biggest Braai brings more punches.

The event has signed a deal with the Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA) for a 12-bout boxing extravaganza. The upcoming show will be hosted at Mavuso Trade Centre in Manzini next week Friday and Saturday. It has been confirmed that a 12-bout boxing extravaganza will take place alongside the braaing event. This means there will be 24 boxers who will participate in the matches. There will also be an exclusive one-bout match between two celebrity boxers who are yet to be confirmed.

Webster Lukhele, who is the President of EBA was reached for comment and he said: “As a boxing association, we are grateful to Biggest Braai Director Mr Lutfo Dlamini, we approached him with the idea and are excited that he was keen. We are looking forward to this tournament being one of the best tournaments in order for growth and the benefit of all parties involved,” said Lukhele. He went on to say they were also looking forward to being a part of this event every year, making this tournament bigger and better. The president further said they would like to invite South African celebrities for exhibition bouts because boxing was for the people and they were trying their best to involve the community. Also because according to them, boxing is the second biggest sport after soccer in terms of popularity.

When reached for comment, Lutfo Dlamini, Director of the Biggest Braai said; “The deal will make the event a very unique national event.”  On the day, the boxing  tournament will simultaneously run alongside all the other activities that will be taking place, including car spinning, a fashion show, choral music, Sibhaca dance, Gospel music, Secular music, battle of the DJs, children’s games and much more. This year’s event will encompass top South African acts, top designers and models from Botswana and South Africa to be announced later on.
