MBABANE - A local young female DJ has caught the eyes of the talented South African radio and TV personality Dineo Ranaka.

Our very own rising star Miss T was seen making waves at SUD in Soweto on Saturday. SUD is a fine dining restaurant in the heart of Soweto and has housed South African heavy-weights in the entertainment industry like; DJ Stokie, DJ Fresh, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza of the Scorpion kings just to name a few.

Spot

Tandzile Lukhele (16), commonly known as Miss T took up the courage to open closed doors and landed herself a gig at a well sought after hangout spot in South Africa. The DJ was so good that she wowed and her set was posted by Ranaka. In a 40- second long clip posted by the international star, she shows off Miss T on the decks and goes to feature patrons who were at the event. Miss T played at 8pm after Nkhalisto’s set who is also the co-founder of Spinout Production in South Africa.  The night was jam packed with fire performances from the likes of Ranaka Ranaka (brother to Dineo Ranaka), Maczito, MPK and Gaba Cannal who are all South African acts.

Opportunity

Miss T was only in that country to visit her mother who resides there and saw an opportunity to ask a resident DJ at SUD restaurant to slot her in and after her work was vetted she was contacted to DJ on the night. This was a great opportunity for the DJ especially now because she wants to branch out and export the sound to see how far her work takes her. Judging by the warm reception she’s been getting she’s definitely going places. The recognition wasn’t planned, the DJ was there to just make her mark on new soils and it definitely worked for her, as now she is being recognised by big names. Which makes one wonder if we are going to re-live an Uncle Waffles moment?  Uncle Waffles is a 21-year-old Amapiano DJ from Eswatini who gained popularity after she posted a video of herself DJing in front of a hyped crowd and was followed by US rapper Drake.

Comment

When reached for comment Miss T manager expressed her excitement. ‘‘It’s grace, because you make plans but God proves that he has bigger plans for your life. Miss T just did what she knows best and what she is most confident about and she got Dineo Ranaka and her friends on their feet and dancing throughout. We are trying to do the most and say the least,’’ said the artists’ manager Velefini Mngometulu. The artists shot down critics that judge her work by her age before even giving her a chance to showcase what she had to offer. It’s actually been both an advantage and disadvantage being a young female in the industry. She constantly has to prove that she can make proper transactions when DJing like her older peers in the industry and she has been pushing hard to be at par with the male DJs who have gained traction in the industry.
