MBABANE – The sensational Amapiano DJ duo Bofecela will be celebrating their birthday with an EP launch on June 24, 2022 at the Xchange Lounge.
This EP (extended playlist) will be their first full body of work release, as they have been only releasing mixes. The music launch will constist of the hottest acts Eswatini has to offer from the likes of Zulu D, ZeetheDJ, The Bishops, Lungsta, Vasco, Knoxman and Drum Rhythm just to name a few. Not to be put short the line-up will also have South African acts like renowned Deep House Producer DJ Oscar Mbo.

“We opted for Oscar Mbo because he plays deep house music and we are launching an Amapiano EP, so we felt best not to take away the shine on the genre seeing that he’s an international act. We also didn’t go for international Amapiano star for those reasons, it’s our night and we need to shine,” said the duo.

Skills

Bofecela is a DJ duo that was formed back in 2018, they merged their skills while at Big Bend. Joining forces was Mlungisi Shongwe commonly known as Tilungu and Thami Zwane also known to the masses as Matamza. Bofecela is a siSwati name for scorpion, as they were named after the release of the Scorpion Kings’s (DJ Kabza and Maphorisa) EP release. “Zulu D named us Bofecela as he felt that we were the best Amapiona DJs in the country and ‘sound’ like the actual scorpions ,which are notorious for giving a deadly sting,’ the duo mentioned.
Seeing huge and internationally acclaimed duos like the Scorpion Kings release music together and being very successful sparked an interest in them to follow in that same light.

The music duo saw a gap in the local music industry and decided to take a chance and tap into that space. Bofecela assure a mind-blowing body of work with new elements of music to look forward to. Their EP release will also be a celebration of the duos birthday month; it will be a double explosion indeed. They felt lucky to share a birthday month, as they had also grew together musically and would be also adding another year together.

Waves

The duo has been making waves for the past few years in the entertainment industry, with their soulful sounds of Amapiano. This is a different route in comparison to the familiar local sounds that are available in this music genre scene. Through this new sound the duo is focused on teaching people to explore, in terms of sounds and what they allow their ears to take in. The masses can expect a compilation of fresh and relatable Amapiano sounds, that the duo hopes will fly the Eswatini flag high.
