MBABANE - Here is something for the adventurous.

Sibebe Resort has officially launched one of the most thrilling and adventorous tourism products, a zipline. Zipline is a type of leisure/sports activity, in which the customers zoom from one side of a wire that is firmly fixed on poles or trees to the other using trolleys mounted on the wire. The name, Zipline, came from the ‘zip’ sound it makes as the customers travel from one side to the other. It also has other names such as Canopy Tour Flying Fox, Zip Wire, Aerial Runway, or Tyrolean Crossing, as they are called in other regions.

Creators

The launch was graced by the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Moses Vilakati and some local content creators. The 400 metre zipline was installed by a company called Chimp and Zee from South Africa; they have been involved in a number of custom design, and construction projects all over South Africa, Africa and the Middle East. The minister shared that the exciting experience came at the right time where they are encouraging domestic tourism.  He also noted that they will soon be celebrating World Tourism Day under the theme ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’. “It is with great pleasure that we gather here today to witness and celebrate the addition of yet another enticing product to the Kingdom of Eswatini’s dynamic range of tourism offerings – the Sibebe Resort Zip Line. Last year we launched the #EswatiniHasMore campaign to heighten awareness, and increase domestic interest in the myriad of tourism facilities, activities and attraction sites that await EmaSwati to explore. The response from domestic tourists has been overwhelmingly positive and we continue to marvel at the sheer pride that locals have displayed in being ambassadors of Eswatini tourism. Even more encouraging is the innovative spirit that local establishments have applied in re-inventing and expanding their product offerings, affirming that indeed #EswatiniHasMore,” he said. Vilakati went on to share that the additional activity complimented the facility’s scenic splendour against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the internationally renowned, historic landmark, the Sibebe Rock.
