EZULWINI - The last week of entries for The Spotlight Season 3 have opened.

There have been three weeks of entries and the first episode of Season 3 premiered yesterday on Eswatini TV and on the MTN Eswatini social media page. The show host, KrTC, speaking to his Twitter fans before the show, said this year’s edition would be bigger and better. “I think the forced break from arts and entertainment has created a hunger for performers to perform. I am expecting everyone who jumps on that Spotlight stage to be unleashed in a way we haven’t seen in previous seasons,” he said.

It is worth noting that over a dozen entries have come in since week four opened showing a great interest from the public.  MTN Brand Communication and Sponsorship Manager Landokuhle Dlamini said the various MTN outlets were available to assist people with their entries. “We note that sometimes people need more information about how to upload and that information is available via our enquiries number as well as on Facebook. However if the public is still not able to upload, they can go to any MTN Service Centre or outlet to seek assistance,” she said.

Dlamini also encouraged people who are having challenges on uploading their applications to come through to their Wednesday and Friday activations which also happen at various MTN outlets.
The competition was successfully launched on August 20, 2021, and immediately digital audition lines for Season 3 were opened. Since then, applications have been coming in from all around the country for the past two weeks from aspiring musicians who want to be Eswatini’s next star. Eswatini’s biggest music talent search competition, The Spotlight, is hosted by MTN Eswatini and supported by partners and sponsors.

The contest has successfully hosted the project over the past two years and in, 2021 enters its third edition. The competition is aimed at unearthing new music stars as well as empowering the youth, the crowning will be in December. Dlamini said week four would still be done electronically via MTN Eswatini’s platform called YelloHub.  She said members of the public interested in joining need to visit the website and follow the instructions there. “Should you need any assistance, the Ayoba number is  7602 7768. The steps for submitting include downloading the Ayoba App on Google Play or Application Store then visit www.yellohub.co.sz/thespotlight/apply, you then complete the form with your personal details, upload your Ayoba App screenshot, ID copy, photo and your one minute video, ” she added.

Dlamini went on to share that the video must include an introduction; name, surname, age and town only.  Most importantly, the camera should be in landscape (horizontal) mode on a clear background with enough lighting.  The first installment of the Spotlight was launched in 2019 and saw a young man from Nhlangano, Llucid, winning the competition. Last year Sethu Magagula from Mliba walked away with the grand prize of a Kia Picanto, smartphone, recording deal among others. Sponsors and partners for this year’s event include, but are not limited to Destiny Music, Nandos, Super Signs, Huawei, Nissan, Eswatini TV and Eswatini Tourism Authority. “The aforementioned sponsors will be updated with due course,” she said.
