MBABANE - Another liSwati has bagged a role on South African screens!

Hailing from Siteki, Gcebile Dlamini has joined the cast on South Africa’s soapie Skeem Saam and she debuted last week. The former Siteki Nazarene High School pupil received raving reviews from locals on social media, as they praised her new role, applauding her for her talent. Dlamini plays the role of ‘Lomalanga’, ‘Lelo’s’ (Amanda du Pont) aunt, who intervenes in her issues in the city of Johannesburg. ‘Lomalanga’, according to the script, is based in Matsulu, in the Mpumalanga Province, and frequently travels to the mentioned city, whenever ‘Lelo’ is in trouble.

Interview

Dlamini confirmed that she has bagged a role with SABC1’s most sought after soapie yesterday in a telephonic interview. “I am now part of Skeem Saam. I play the role of ‘Lomalanga’, ‘Lelo’s’ no-nonsense aunt from Matsulu who meddles in her problems,” commented Dlamini briefly. On her social media pages, Dlamini thanked all emaSwati who showed her support. “I thank you so much my fellow emaSwati, friends and relatives. The recognition goes along way. I really appreciate your support all the time. I could not capture all your messages, but captured in my thoughts and heart, the ones I saw and did not see. Let us all work and we will receive the fruits,” said Dlamini. She is not the first liSwati to join Skeem Saam cast. Du Pont, Eswatini-born actor, model and businesswoman, is one of the main casts in the soapie and she has been in it for over five years.
Nomvuyo Shabangu, liSwati from Ezulwini, also acted on the soapie. She cast as one of the inmates in a female correctional facility.
