INHLONHLA PUMPS IN E20 000 FOR LEGMA

MBABANE - ‘The postponement of the awards came with good results.’

 These were the words said by the Association of Christian Artists in Eswatini (ACAESWA) President, Phetsile Masilela, as they received  E20 000 cheque from Inhlonhla. 

ACAESWA will be hosting awards dubbed ‘Lockdown Eswatini Gospel Music Awards’ at Woodlands on November 28, 2020.

  The awards were slated to be hosted innitially on November 7, 2020.

 During the handover that was done at the Inhlonhla offices, the president expressed their excitement and shared that artists were resilient during the COVID-19 lockdown, which has halted the entertainment sector.

 “We are grateful and excited for the assistance and partnership. Their contribution will surely change the awards, ” she said.

 She went on to assure the nation that they will be adhering to all COVID-19 regulations.

 “We would like to assure the public a safe environment and also urge them to adhere to all health regulations during the event,” she said.

 Masilela also shared that they recorded over 50 000 votes.

The handover was also graced by The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), Chief Executive Officer Stanley Dlamini, who also thanked Inhlonhla for helping the art sector during the pandemic.

 “Gospel music is one of the genres that is doing well in Africa. We can confidently share that gospel musicians have hoisted the country’s flag in so many platforms in different countries, “he said.

 He went on to encourage other entities to help the local entertainment sectors.

Nathi Van Zuydan, from Inhlonhla officially announced that they will be sponsoring two categories, which will be named after Inhlonhla. Namely; Inhlonhla Gospel song of the year and Inhlonhla Gospel classic of all times.

“Inhlonhla is very excited and proud about participating in this year’s gospel awards. We are particularly encouraged by the work done by ACAESWA in the nurturing of gospel artists and industry. We would also like to commend the committee’s resilience and determination in ensuring that the awards come to life this year. We all know it has been a difficult year for all industries, in particular, the entertainment arts industry,” he said.

Van Zuydam, who is a Marketing officer also shared that they saw it fit to associate themselves with the awards as they align with one of their mandates of helping and creating opportunities. 

“Through ACAESWA’s efforts, we trust the awards will also bring encouragement and joy to the nation’s gospel artists. It will provide an opportunity for newcomers to be recognised, under the Inhlonhla Song of The Year category. It will also provide an opportunity for artist’s to reinvent themselves, especially those under the Inhlonhla Gospel Classic Song of All Times. They may even attract international artists across the SADC region and beyond, to collaborate with them on a remake of their classic. Through  ACAESWA, we foresee an opportunity to use their awards, as a platform to promote an exciting new product, which will be revealed in the near future,” he added.

It is worth noting that the awards are held in partnership with the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture, Destiny Group, Old Mutual Eswatini, Premier Bakeries, Dem Dem Recording Studios as well as Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority. 

The awards will be the first black carpet presentation.

 Masilela emphasised that the awards presentation will be of international standards and encouraged people to continue buying tickets online.

“We all know that black stimulates perspective and depth, and provides protection from external emotional stress by absorbing all negative energies. We want to portray such power and elegance and soften the effect of the COVID-19 not just to the art industry but to everyone that will come or join us Live on Eswatini Television and the Voice of the Church radio station,”  she said.

She further added that the theme of the carpet presentation will be ‘Black & Gold; Glitz in Black’. 

“Such a theme is aimed at taking the mind of Emaswati from all that has been happening in the country and reveal the positivity of the nation through the glitz and glamour. We are aware that people do not have the time and chance to wear their designer dresses and suits to a formal event due to the lockdown and we want to give the nation that opportunity before the year ends,” she added.
