MBABANE – Living the cheese boy life!

Greg Dlamini, a Eswatini-born hip hop artist, model, billboard model and voice over artist appeared in one of the most recent adverts for Steers.

Their latest campaign, dubbed #LivingTheCheeseBoyLife is about making life the best you can, through affording their latest product.

Steers is one of South Africa’s most recognisable quick-service restaurant brands. The eatery is well-known for serving flame-grilled burgers made from 100 per cent pure beef and handmade chips.

Dlamini stars as Tshepo, a young man, who has always wanted to live the soft life, until the narrator on the video shows it to him.

He appear alongside actress Natasha Thahane and actor Oros Mampofu, where they are chilling by the poolside in the recent advert.

He is no stranger working for this outlet as he revealed that his relationship with Steers began over five years ago.

On working in an environment like South Africa, Dlamini said it had been amazing for him, although he preferred no other place other than Eswatini, his home country.

Opportunities

“I am not too far away from Eswatini, so it has allowed me to bridge all the opportunities regarding entertainment between the two countries,” he said.

He added that his main goal was to host a series of events locally with artists, actors, models, photographers, fashion designers as well as entrepreneurs, so that people at home were exposed to how things worked in the industry and familiarising themselves with people in the industries they’re pursuing.

“My journey with Steers as their ambassador began over five years ago when I shot my first TV commercial for them and it’s been absolutely amazing both as an experience and for my career because we’re now one of the longest Brand Representatives in Africa,” he stated.

Through this, Dlamini said he had the pleasure to do music performances and make appearances on TV commercials, movies as well as modeling gigs in countries around Africa.

“Such countries include Botswana, Nigeria, Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa,” he added.

Dlamini also added that he had been able to eventually tap into the global market through partnering with an American record label for upcoming projects set for 2021, which he highlighted to be really excited about.

From popping bottles of expensive champagne and being chauffeured in expensive cars as he attend A-list South African parties, Greg became the envy of town, when he also featured in Vuzu’s Rich Kids in 2017.

Eswatini Music and Arts Association Public Relations Officer, Bongani ‘Tizalam’ Dube said; “SWAMA is extremely proud of our various local artists who are making waves internationally and regionally, as they are Eswatini’s immediate ambassadors of excellence in the arts.

Digital

“Furthermore, we laud artists who have ridden the digital wave, especially during this time, and made an impact beyond our borders.

“As we always say, the world is, and shall continue to be, our stage. Let more locals own it.”

Meanwhile, The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) Chief Executive Officer, Stanley Dlamini, congratulated Dlamini for using such an opportunity to represent the country while embracing the digital music world.

“We are glad to see our local artists taking advantage of the current situation,” Dlamini said.

Other emaSwati who have appeared on international commercials include Nandi Alexander, who recently was on the advertisement for Lindt Chocolate.
