MBABANE – It can be!  After a couple of months of witnessing hundreds of emaSwati participate in the search toward becoming Standard Bank’s brand influencers, the organisation has revealed its winning candidates.

This revelation was shared through the bank’s social media platforms Live on Friday at an event held at House on Fire.

Worthy of note is that there have been different categories catering to the candidates’ strong points and fields of expertise.

These categories include technology and innovation, the arts, women empowerment, agriculture, community development, retail as well as creative media.

In a WhatsApp interview with Sibusile Sigwane, who is the Marketing and Communications Manager for Standard Bank, she revealed that splitting the categories into seven was due to considering their brand proof points in an effort to demonstrate how they could find new ways to develop the sectors.

The shortlisted candidates submitted videos through the Standard Bank Eswatini social media pages, where the public voted for their preferred candidate in each sector.

The videos were posted across the bank’s social media platforms and total post likes, reactions and shares on the final videos were considered in selecting the final candidates per category.

Mbulelo Ndlovu said he hoped that with this opportunity, he would use it to show people how diverse photography was as well as using his talent to echo was has been taught.

The agricultural category was won by Phiwa Shongwe, who said although she had studied towards a law degree, she hoped to inspire the youth to use their hands in order to achieve their goals through agriculture.

The winner under the women empowerment category, Nomsa Mbuli highlighted that she would use this opportunity to influence the youth to participate in community leadership, while Thabo Mnisi under the Community Development category said he would use the opportunity to see young people in Eswatini growing their different brands through his Touch of Soul Foundation.

Taking the technology and innovation category was Linda Mantini, who said he hoped that his website Course Campus Africa would help the youth get more information about tertiary institutions they desired to go to.

It is worth noting that while there were only two female winners, Sigwane said they had given an equal opportunity to all emaSwati to participate.

“The finalists were voted for through social media,” she said.
