WORKERS COLLEGE PUMPS IN E80 000 FOR LOGMA

MBABANE - Prices galore!

There will be more prizes for the Lockdown Gospel Music Awards (LOGMA).

Workers University College has pumped in E80 000 worth scholarship for three gospel awards winners.

The scholarships were confirmed by the college’s Head of CommunicationsNtfonjeniDlamini, in an interview with the Entertainment Desk.

Dlamini said as a college, they remained indebted to the society especially the art and creative sector and this was their way of giving back.

“We are a college based on Christian values and partnering with the gospel awards came naturally for us. We are giving an education sponsorship because we want to give artists something that they can cherish and benefit from for the rest of their live,” he said.

The awards, which will take place this coming November were officially launched on July 11, 2020 at The George Hotel in Manzini. 

 They were designed by the Association of Christian Artists in Eswatini (ACAESWA) to help motivate artist   during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The ACAESWA president PhetsileMasilela, expressed her enormous excitement and shared the scholarship opportunity aligned with one of their mandate which was to empower local artists.

“Education is worth more than what money can buy. As an association we have made it clear that we want to capacitate our artists and this will benefit us a lot. The artists won’t just be doing any course but ones in business and information technology,” she said.

Masilela went on to plead with other interested companies to help make the awards possible.

“We would like to invite other interested candidates or business to help with the awards as we celebrate local talent,” she added.

NhlanhlaMathunjwa, who is also from LOGMA, concurred with Masilela and also shared his excitement about the partnership,

 “This is the beginning of a great journey, I hope our marriage will be fruitful,” he said.

Meanwhile Old Mutual Eswatini   also donated E10 000 to one of the categories and Dem Dem Recording Studios also offered free recording for the winners.

Mathunjwawent on to urge the public to continue voting for their favourite artist.

“The voting lines are still opened people can send an SMS as follows, VOTE ARTISTS CODE TO 6677,”he said.

The voting will be according to the category code abbreviations followed by the artist’s number, which are two digits. 

It is worth noting that the awards are held in partnership with the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture, Destiny Group, Old Mutual Eswatini, Premier Bakeries, Dem Dem Recording Studios as well as Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority.
