ACAESWA REVEALS AWARDS COMMITTEE

MBABANE – A special committee for the recently launched ‘Lockdown Online Gospel Awards’ was revealed this past Saturday. 

The revelation was made by the Association of Christian Artists in Eswatini (ACAESWA) President, Phetsile Masilela at an event held at The George Hotel.
The committee is headed by renowned former Manzini Wanderers management committee Chairman, Patrick Gamedze.

According to the association’s Public Relations Officer, Nhlanhla Mathunjwa, Gamedze had been in the Eswatini sports scene for a long time and the association saw him as the perfect fit to head the committee because he was a Christian and was also not new in the gospel entertainment scene.

The awards organising committee consists of Gamedze as the chairperson, Sabelo Masuku, who serves as the vice chairperson as well as Sharon Maziya, Thuba Khumalo, Phile Msibi, Mhlonishwa Motsa, Nhlanhla Mathunjwa, as well as Bertha Sithole, who is the committees’ secretary.
Speaking at the awards launch, Gamedze said he was very optimistic that the members would not produce anything below standard.

“Entries for the awards are open to gospel musicians in the Kingdom of Eswatini and outside but has been resident in the country for a minimum of 12 months on date of entry,” said Gamedze.
He also revealed that entrants must own 50 per cent of the master recording contained in the entry in question.
Gamedze also stated that members must pay an entry fee of E600.

It was also announced that the categories would be divided into three, being public, technical as well as special categories. 

Decision

Public categories will be decided by both the public and the judges, with the public votes ensuring 60 per cent and the judges’ decision to amount to 40 per cent.
The special categories are honorary categories that will be decided by the organising committee, judges and the executive committee.

It was also revealed that the technical category would be decided by the judging panel except the most downloaded song category, which will be based on network provider statistics.
