MBABANE – It’s a balaclava style song.  Wakhile ‘Waka Waka’ Fakudze aims to take the hip hop music industry by storm in Eswatini.
The rapper, who hails from Phonjwane in the Lubombo region has released a debut single titled ‘Balaclava’.

The song was produced by renowned Eswatini music producer Bad Relief, whose real name is Ntsika Fakudze.
Waka Waka told the Entertainment desk he always had music in his heart.
He said his moniker came from his name Wakhile.

The track features the producer and was recorded at his studio Melodies Records.
He also mentioned that it was an Afro Kwaito song which according to his supporters was beautifully crafted after releasing a teasing soundtrack.
“The single was inspired by the pandemic that has the world shook and grounded. The word Balaclava is some figure of speech and it translates to the facemasks that we have to wear,” he said.

Anxiety

The artist follows suit other entertainers who have composed songs that would serve as ways to alleviate anxiety of listeners because of their catchy and edgy lyrics.
In his lyrics, Waka Waka pin points some of the grueling acts of violence that people have to go through in the hands of the police if they are not wearing their masks.

With the partial lockdown and the strict regulations that come with it, he advised people to heed them in order to flatten the curve of the pandemic.
He also urged people to properly practice the guidelines in order to be safe and not become statistics.

Other renowned musicians who have cemented their names in this genre of music in Eswatini include MTN SWAMA nominee and National Arts and Culture Awards winner (2013 & 2015), rapper switch and Skeel .
