MBABANE – Flameboy Universe of ‘Nowadays’ fame has outdone himself by clinching the top spot on the hotly contested Eswatini Top 20 chart show, with the song ‘Fun’ imali’, making him one of the few artists whose radio singles have attained number one.

So far, only Qibho Intalektual, Diba Diba, and Canny Deep have had all their official radio singles attain the top spot on the weekly charts.

On ‘Fun’ imali’, Flameboy Universe collaborated with Colbert, a South African artist. The song first came out in late January, and rose gradually to the peak. It is a mixture of amapiano and pop sound, with both artists showcasing their singing abilities.
Flameboy Universe is a composer of note, a singer, rapper, and a producer. He first broke into mainstream music in 2017 with his runaway hit ‘Nowadays’, which was followed by ‘Believe me’ and ‘Phunyuka bamphetse’.

All three singles were found in his debut album ‘Rich people’, which won him the Best Newcomer award in the first MTN SWAMA Awards.

Chart show presenters Bongani ‘DJ Tizalami’ Dube and Lindelwa ‘Lindz’ Mafa described Flameboy Universe as a hardworking and determined young man. “He always experiments successfully with fresh sounds, and his influence among his peers is quite colossal,” they said.

Meanwhile, five-week number one ‘Happiness’ by DJ Cup and Slotta made a surprise five-place fall to number six, while Young Zii entered the top three with ‘Sidlinyuku’.

Sisekelo Shawn maintained the number two position with ‘Live life’.  The two new entries came from Sihlangu Sibiya and Ashton Rae at numbers 19 and 20 respectively. The charts play on EBIS2 on Fridays at 8pm.
