MBABANE – Be warned!

Barely a week after the popular Epic Gig was revealed to be slated for June 27 this year, shocking developments have beckoned. Founder and Director of Toxik Entertainment Thammy ‘Toxik’ Dlamini, the entity behind the big and most anticipated show in the country the Epic Gig, has warned the public against a new Instagram fake account which has been recently discovered by his team. Dlamini revealed to this journalist that they had only one Instagram account whose handle was ‘The Epic Gig @theepicgigsd’. The alleged fake account has a handle named ‘THE EPIC GIG 202 @the_epicgig’, making it two different accounts. The alleged fake account has only one post, which mentions that people should state artists they wish to see this year while the said original account had 293 posts by the time we compiled this report.

The original account, also, had pictures of the 2019 edition of the Epic Gig and it also revealed this year’s venue for the gig which was Malkerns Country Club. This journalist also spotted that a warning had been sent by the active account to their followers on the alleged fake account, with a stamp saying “Beware!!! Fake Account”. The caption to the very same posts read ‘Fake!!! Fake!!! Be warned!!!’. Dlamini confirmed that there was indeed a new fake account which was discovered. He alleged that when clicking on the email on that page, it linked to an email of one of the biggest shows that the country once saw. The name of the show cannot be mentioned because of the sensitivity of the matter.

“We only have one Instagram official page and we will stop at nothing until people are fully aware of the new one that we know nothing of,” said Dlamini. This year’s Epic Gig is slated for June 27. It is the third edition and it has become a tradition that the show is hosted in the last weekend of June. This show has seen big names including South Africa’s Kwesta, TLT, Mlindo the Vocalist, Zimbabwe’s Buffalo Souljah performing. It has drawn thousands of hip hop and fun lovers to one venue. The line-up for this year had not been revealed yet. There were no social media comments by the time this publication went to print.
