MBABANE - From a small town to a big city.  A local rapper from the outskirts of Nhlangano in the Shiselweni Region. Manqoba Shongwe, also known as Man Q has bagged an award from the 011 awards under the category of Mix Tape of the Year in South Africa.

The awards were held a few weeks ago in Johannesburg where the renowned artist was up against different talented artists.
In an interview the lucky winner expressed his excitement about his achievement and being recognised in another country through his craft.

“I feel so honoured to be recognised in another country and I am humbled. This award is a stepping stone for me and for other local artists,” he said.
When asked on how he entered the awards he said he sent his project through their site and they approved him to join the awards and was voted for by his fans.

Shongwe did not just gain huge exposure, but with the award he will be under the 011 programme and get an opportunity to showcase his talent in other places.
“I will be able to perform in other awards they will be hosting as they host them in every province in South Africa,” he said.
In an interview with the Eswatini, Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) President, Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini, he also expressed his excitement about Shongwe’s achievement.

Excited

“We are very excited about this young man he is raising the bar high and representing us in South Africa. I had a chance to listen to his music and I was blown away,” Dlamini said. He also eluded his efforts of pushing his own craft.

“If you want to be spoon fed you will always be at the bottom of the chain, people need to get up and do the work,” he added.
Shongwe is not the only artist that has left a mark in South Africa, as Nduduzo Matse also scooped an award under the Gospel Crown Awards with Shongwe Nekhuphuka.
