MBABANE – The Miss Eswatini 2018/2019 trio is one man down. This after the second princess, Phiwinhlanhla Sandra Mbhamali, tied the knot about two weeks ago to Sandram Mafu at Sharma House in Ezulwini.

The wedding ceremony came after Mbhamali informed Pageants Eswatini and voluntarily stepped down as the reigning Miss Eswatini Second Princess.
Pageants Eswatini is a body which issues out licences and regulates pageants in the country.

Mbhamali confirmed that she was married but when probed on her wedding, she referred the Entertainment Desk to Pageants Eswatini.

“Yes I am married and the country does deserve to know that as I was crowned Miss Eswatini second princess in their presence,” said Mbhamali in an interview.

Pageants Eswatini President Cathriene Potgieter also confirmed Mbhamali’s marriage, stating that they were aware of it after she informed them prior to the day she said ‘I do’.

“Mbhamali asked us for the next crowning date and we gave her a response for the proposed date as she was preparing for her wedding.
“The next Miss Eswatini event was supposed to be soon but due to the upcoming Miss Tourism, we had to postpone to a later date this year,” said Potgieter.

When questioned about the rules regarding getting married while still a reigning beauty queen, Potgieter had not responded at the time this publication went to print.

Miss Eswatini 2018/2019 Nosipho Dlamini said they were a team and they loved and supported each other when asked about being one man down.
“It is worth celebrating that our second princess got married. We may be one man short but we are strong enough to continue hoisting the Eswatini flag as ambassadors,” said Dlamini.

The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stanley Dlamini, referred questions to Pageants Eswatini when sought for comment.
