MBABANE – Khenzomen Entertainment has confirmed that hip hop kingpin Cassper Nyovest is no longer coming to the country.

This comes after a well-known local hip hop artist broke the news on his social media platforms last December about a possible show which was to be headlined by Nyovest. When contacted by this publication for verification purposes, Nyovest, through his management ‘Bridge Entertainment and Family Tree Media’, denied claims of him coming to perform in the country.

While speaking on behalf of the entertainment stable that was responsible for bringing the artist, Mfanimpela Ndlala shared that their plans to bring the popular South African artist to the country had hit a snag after they were unable to reach an agreement.

Ndlala revealed that the deal failed to materialise because the ‘Monate Mpolaye’ hitmaker had told them he had more commitments on the day of the scheduled show. The event was scheduled to take place on March 30, at a venue that was yet to be confirmed.

Commitments

“He has more commitments in Johannesburg, so their requirements are exceeding our budget since we do not have any sponsors on board. The show is no longer happening. We had to pay everything from our pockets. The private charter is expensive,” he said.

The promoter shared that the private charter was expecting no less than E54 077 from them, apart from the E200 000 they would have paid as booking fee for Nyovest.

However, Ndlala said the dream of bringing the artist to the country was not entirely scrapped.
“We will look for another date before the end of the year, where he will only have our event, so that they can use ground transport,” he added.

Ndlala made it clear that this was not to scam the public of their hard earned cash but it was a dream to host the hip hop artist in the country as he seemingly had a lot of fans here.

The rap artist’s management, Bridge Entertainment and Family Tree Media, confirmed that there was no deal between them and Khenzomen Entertainment.
Ndlala insisted that no tickets were sold.
“Tickets were not yet out because we wanted to confirm everything (with Nyovest) before we released them,” he stated.

Performance

This would have been Nyovest’s third performance in the country following his thrilling renditions at the MTN BUSHFIRE and Hipnotik Festivals. Before his performance at the Hipnotik festival, he bought tickets for a number of fans who were waiting outside and asked the organisers to let them in.
SWAMA President Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini said the latest developments were opening a platform for local artists to be booked more.
