MBABANE – Up and coming actor, Thokozani Hlophe is making his mark in South Africa.

After spending years perfecting his craft, Hlophe from Nyokeni, Manzini, started enjoying the fruits in 2016 as he made cameo appearances in the leading TV soapies in the money-spinning industry.

He started as a background artist on ‘Sober Companion’ on SABC 3 before breaking into ‘Generations The Legacy’ cast and further appearing on ‘Skeem Saam’, Isisdingo, ‘Scandal’ and ‘Rhythm City’. Hlophe continued to grow and expanded his skill as he recently featured on RnB artist Cici’s latest single ‘Ndidinge’. As his skills have continued to be appreciated, the actor saw the band Blaq Diamond also asking to feature him on the music video of their song ‘Emzini Kababa’.

Amazing

“Working with artists such as Cici was amazing as she is real, fun and true to herself. I had a great time working with the Ambitiouz Entertainment crew. I also learnt a lot working with Blaq Diamond since they are new in the music industry.

It was the first time I took a leading role throughout a music video,” he said.
As if this was not enough, he recently saw the short film he starred on debuting on Mzansi Magic. The short film is titled ‘Silent Screams’ and it is currently being played on Mzansi Bioskop.

“I have featured on a number of TV programmes actually, including ‘Isethembiso’, my aim is to grow and be regarded as one of the best in this industry. My biggest highlight was when ‘Isibaya’ gave me a role and when I saw my short film debuting on Mzansi Magic,” he said.
Hlophe said he will soon hit the streets of Eswatini in a quest to scout for new talent.

Exposure

“I want to give local talent the same exposure that was afforded to me,” he said.
Hlophe urged the youth to focus on their craft as nothing is impossible if you believe in what you do.
“It is doable if you keep your feet on the ground and never lose focus. Education is key, but patience is virtue. Studying hard is also important while chasing your dream,” he said.

The 35-year-old said his wish is to work with the Fergusons on ‘The Queen’, ‘The River’ and ‘The Wild’.
