MBABANE - The EUnited Arts of Swaziland’s aim to reveal new talent in the country is being greatly achieved.

Barely two months after this great initiative by the EUnited Arts of Swaziland ‘Go Sugar’ festival at Mayaluka Stadium in Big Bend which revealed a number of new Eswatini talents, they did the same last Friday at Alliance Francaise de Mbabane where fine artists and their work were revealed.

The event, which was mainly in collaboration with Eswatini renowned fine artist David Ian Franco saw the revelation of Claudia, an educated fine artist who was based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Claudia described her work as an output of lack of sleep.

Platform

“I would love to thank this Minerva Project in giving the platform to display my work,” said Claudia.
Also, Nokwanda Masina was revealed and her work was said to portray a woman who is in the process of understanding her body and the world around her.
“My work is basically about discovering self and the world around you. Also, it is about the willingness to express oneself and learn new things,” she said.

The highlight of the day was a performance by internationally renowned Italian artist Ambrogio Sparagna, who sang two songs as a teaser to his main performance which was the following day at the Swaziland Theatre Club.
Develop
This programme, which was set to develop arts in Eswatini, was launched in April last year under Minerva and the name ‘EUnited Arts of Swaziland’ was designed to evocate and immediately highlight the European Union’s support for arts and culture in Eswatini at all levels.
Minerva Project Manager Riccardo Severi said they were happy to contribute to Eswatini’s growth through the arts.
“Our aim is also to reveal new talent and give them resources to strengthen their careers. Currently, we have rehearsal space in Mbabane and I hope artists use it,” he said.
