MBABANE – The SWAMA National Executive Committee has started the year with a bang!

The latter statement is literal as the Swaziland Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) National Executive Committee (NEC) was reshuffled last Saturday during their first NEC meeting for 2019.

The association made the internal changes to its structure in preparation for the imminent expansion projects; which include taking the association to the grassroots, capacity-building and arts development for members.

One of the major changes includes the reshuffle of Penny Bouwer, who was announced as the new Secretary for Publicity, Information and Communications and she has replaced Thabile Mdluli, who is now the new Secretary for Arts Education and Development.

SWAMA President Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini congratulated Simelane on her return and also recognised the other reshuffles.
“They have been deployed where they are most capable and we have faith they will execute their duties accordingly,’’ said Dlamini.
The NEC has renamed some of the positions; established some, and re-assigned roles.

This is the SWAMA NEC:
*    President – Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini
*    Vice President and Artists Liaison – Lindelwa ‘Lindz’ Mafa
*    Secretary General – Bongani ‘Dj Tizalami’ Dube
*    Secretary for Legal Affairs – Tiyamike ‘Tiyas’ Maziya
*     Secretary for Publicity, Information and Communication – Penny Bouwer
*     Secretary for Arts Education and Development – Thabile Mdluli
*     Secretary for Events Logistics and Support – Sicelo ‘Dj Chuidy’ Zwane
*    Executive Committee Member – Brian ‘Staycool’ Mdluli.

SWAMA Secretary General Bongani Dube said these changes had been invoked through Constitutional Amendment Clause 1 of 2019, passed unanimously by the Executive, and which has been submitted to the Eswatini National Council of Arts & Culture (ENCAC).

“Notably, the entire executive team was retained in the NEC, as mandated by the SWAMA members in elections that were held on November 4, 2017,” he said.
