MBABANE - Into Music Society is highly set into making sure that emaSwati are integrated into the jazz music culture

Barely a month after hosting South Africa’s legendary trio, Afro Tenors, Qadasi and Maqhinga and Yonela Mnana in the country, Into Music Society is bringing South African young jazz music vocalist Gabi Motuba.

It will be the first  time for her to perform in the country and she will be performing songs from her classical album known as Te Fiti (Goddess of Creation).
Gabisile Motuba, popularly known as Gabi Motuba, is a 24-year-old jazz vocalist born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1992.

One of her latest projects which she has embarked on is her debut album ‘Sanctum Sanctorium’, which she has co-composed with drummer, Tumi Mogorosi in late 2015.  The album is a collaboration between Switzerland and South Africa.

Features

The album also features world-renowned Swiss pianist, Malcolm Braff. Motuba also worked on a duo project called ‘The Wretched,’ which is based on the book ‘The Wretched of The Earth’ by Fantz Fanon.
Confirming her performance in the country was Into Music Society Founder Nelisa Lawton.

“Our next show will feature Motuba and we are happy to have her. She is an amazing vocalist and her voice is soothing,” said Lawton.
Hosting such artists of high calibre is not new to Into Music Society.

They have hosted Argentina’s Juana and Ariel, South Africa’s Thandi Ntuli, recently the Afro Tenors, Yonela Mnana and many other artists.
The show is set for December at the Eswatini Theatre Club - Jazz Gallery in Mbabane and entrance fee is E120.
