MBABANE – Give Lady Zamar the stage and a stylishly short outfit and she will make it magic.

Lady Zamar’s smooth dance moves and melodic voice brought the house down last Friday night at Solani’s Shisanyama in Msunduza, Mbabane.
The popular South African musician was performing for the first time in the country since her chart-topping single ‘Love is blind’ introduced her to the entertainment scene over two years ago.

Lady Zamar, whose real name is Yamakani Janet Banda, described the feeling of performing in the country as special as she said this was home to her. She revealed that some of her family members resided in Eswatini, at Hlatikhulu and Mbabane to be precise.
“Performing here was really amazing, the vibe was electrifying. I had so much fun on stage and the crowd was simply great,” she said shortly after her performance.

She added that even though she only knew Afro soul singer Sands in the country, she would love to collaborate with a local artist.
On stage, the ‘Charlotte’ hitmaker kept it short and vibrant as she performed hits such as ‘My Baby’, which was her first song.

While performing with a live band, songs such as ‘Love is blind’ were given a twist as she changed it from the house tunes to something slow and soulful. She did the same thing with her hit song she produced with Prince Kaybee, ‘Charlotte’ and what made this performance magical was the overflowing crowd singing along to every song she performed.

The singer and songwriter’s brief performance also saw the popular songs ‘Collide’ and ‘It’s you-dreaming’ sending the crowd into frenzy.
The singer was wearing glittering shorts and a black dress with black stockings and high heels. She was an instant hit on stage as she unleashed a couple of sleek dance moves and interacted with the admiring masses. The multi-talented singer was armed with two dancers, Thabang and Noxolo together with DJ Publo on the decks.

Outfits

Her two dancers, also clad in short black outfits, were a marvel to watch as their energetic performances were appreciated by the crowd. The throngs of people screamed in excitement and whistled on as silky dance moves were showcased on stage.
However, the mood changed when she left the stage after performing less than 40 minutes. She has climbed on stagestarted her performance just before 2am and the crowd was not pleased and she sent her goodbyes following the brief performance.

While being escorted out of the venue to her car, she was encircled by her team and a group of fans which was loudly requesting her to give them more as they were still hungry for her presence on stage.

The fans mobbed her car and the star took time to meet some of her fans and took pictures with them before taking off.
Fun lover, Ncedo Zitha, was also there and she said in as much as she was impressed with Lady Zamar’s performance on stage, however, she was disappointed the star performed a few songs.

“For me it was a great experience because Lady Zamar is one of the greatest singers I know, though I had expected her to perform the songs like we know them. It would have been more enjoyable but everything else was amazing. People love her and I could see from the way they knew her songs that they followed her music,” she said.
Most of the fans said they expected her to perform for more than an hour. They said they were disappointed with the time she spent on stage.
However, Thandukwazi Hadebe said everything was on point as all the performers gave it their all on stage, including the headlining act.
“It was a great show and people came out in numbers despite the Mbabane weather doing what it is famous for. I loved all the performances on the night and Lady Zamar was simply amazing,” he said.
He added that people should expect more from them this festive season. Moreover, DJs Zulu D and Tibo DW stole the show with their Gqom and electro tunes.
However, Tibo DW’s set was disturbed by the arrival of the police as he climbed on stage just after Lady Zamar and he was ordered to cut his set short.  After negotiations, the show proceeded.
