MBABANE – The choral music industry is growing. This was witnessed last Friday at the Happy Valley Hotel where the choral Music fraternity welcomed one more member during the launch the Pure Voices Choir. The choir was initiated by Nxumalo Gabazi a year ago.

Pure Voices has been making waves, competing with the champions and will soon be representing the Kingdom of Eswatini in South Africa, where they will be part of the Old Mutual Music Festival. The event will be on October 21.

The event was attended by a number of people, including the Chief Executive Officer of Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) Stanley Dlamini, who said he was glad to witness the growth of the choral music industry, which he said was one of the activities that help the ENCAC to fulfill its mandate and has been a great influential genre to other artists and the public eye, making choral music a profession.
“Choral music is one of the leading genres that are hosting the country’s flag and taking on a professional stand, people can make a living through singing,” he said. Dlamini also urged the public to support all musicians.

Pure Voices is not just a choir that will be competing, but it will be a choir that will provide a profession for all musicians who can make a living out of singing, as they will be open for bookings. The Chief Executive Officer of Eswatini Choral Association Sihle Gumbi also noted the importance of having a good structural management team and the Pure Voices did set a good trend as they have all the departments needed, making choral music a professional zone.

Gumbi stated that they were glad to finally launch the choir, even though it had already started competing. “It is better to introduce something people have heard about and really making a mark, for them to easily support them,” he said.

Expressed

Celimphilo Dlamini, who is the communications officer of the choir, expressed his excitement and pleaded with the nation to support the choir as they are talented young people. Some of the members are from different high schools.
“We are still open for more people who would like to join the choir,” he said.
Dlamini pleaded for assistance as they have no sponsors since they will be attending the regional competition in Durban.
