SIKHUPHE – It never rains but pours for the air show.

After hosting a not so successful air show three weeks ago, Sky Max has experienced yet another disappointing show this past weekend.
During last Saturday’s make-up show, few people attended the event, the aircrafts were not all seen in action but they had two that did a few stunts, entertaining the crowd. Patrick Du Pont from Sky Max, said that he is happy about the turnout, even though it was not a fully-flashed air show as there are procedures to adhere to when hosting an air show, but unfortunately they were given this month to host the air show, which is not a good month due to the season.

Du Pont said they decided to host the air show to bring the public to the new airport and also get to explore it. He revealed that due to the mishaps they forgone on their first attempt towards hosting this show, they had went back to the drawing board and the main challenge they came across was the weather, which is the main glitch towards the failure of such a show.

“As a team, we then took all necessary measures to enquire about how to host successful air shows from our industry friends in South Africa and as you can see, we have improved one or two sections this time around,” said Du Pont. Looking around the venue, one cold notice that the kid’s zone was revamped with a variety of games to choose from, and a secure parking space for attendees. “The team did work on all the issues as we added more games for children and a proper location,” he said. Most of the pilots were from overseas and they had a few performances at the Kingdom of Eswatini.

He also confirmed that next year they will be hosting another air show, which they believe will be a success as it will be hosted during a proper month with a suitable weather focus, as they confirmed and registered to the aviation department. They are still yet to announce the date. He thanked all the entities that made the air show a success and urged other businesses to join in so to make it a success.
