MBABANE – Blows inflicted by life were softened through good humour last Saturday, as laughter ruled the night.

As the clock ticked closer to the starting hour of the comedy show at the legendary Eswatini Theatre Club, the words which dominated the lips of the crowd were hopes of good humour and expectations being made.

This, as South African stand-up comedians, Stopnonsons and Moozy were performing for the first time in the country and a lot was expected from the duo.
When their time to hit the stage came, the audience was sent straight to the floor through laughter, as they delivered beyond everyone’s expectations.
Their sets were so good so much that at some instances they had to stop their witty jokes due to dominant laughs from the audience.

First to thrill between the two was Moozy, who was flawless making fun of the audience’s body sizes and looks, using car models and countries as his South African day-to-day life experiences and gay people’s lives.

He also stretched his skills to singing and beatboxing, something which left the crowd in awe, especially when he performed Sands’ hit song ‘Tigi’, using a guitar.

He took about 20 minutes on stage and received a standing ovation coupled with warm rounds of applause when he left the stage.
On the other hand, the headliner of the show themed ‘Eat, Pray, Laugh’, comedian Stopnonsons was at his very best while on stage, as he joked about how stressful it was being the son of Billionaire Patrice Motsepe and having to  live a fancy life from a tender age.

Ruined

He also talked about his break-up with his girlfriend and how her being a Zulu, ruined their relationship as he funnily described how Zulu people laced inner peace.
The petite comedian also touched on sex life and how it was important for parents to talk about it with their children, however, it is his opening joke about the confusion between SiSwati and Zulu, which got the audience in stitches.

“I know Swatis use ‘ti’ instead of ‘si’ used by Zulus, so while at the border, I found myself confused and further confusion was caused by the airtime vendor as I asked for a timcard instead of a simcard,” he said.

He also mocked his fictional sick uncle and how his sickness was a revenge for him.
The comedian was not afraid to get into deep details while making jokes about sex and manhood, much to the amusement of the audience. He took about 50 minutes on stage and he also received a standing ovation as he was well-received by the impressed audience.

Amazed

Nomfundo ‘Mfukky’ Makhubu, while surrounded by friends and family, said she was amazed by the comedian. While gospel stars, Nothando Hlophe and Phetsile Masilela said the show was great and were happy to see local comedy growing.
Local comedy stars, Ndosh and Elfoe also did their best on stage as their jokes, which ranged from church people, Manzini life, gay people and a life of a chubby person in a night club, were well-received by the audience.

South African comedian Vivi, also did not disappoint on stage with his five minutes performance.
What was evident during the show was how the audience was not safe from all the comedians, as those who tried to disturb their sets were made fun of in the most hilarious manner.
