MBABANE – Will the newly crowned Miss Eswatini participate in Miss World? The answer to the question remains a mystery as no affirmative response was given to this publication by Pageants Eswatini after discovering a confirmed list of contestants who are to take part in Miss World 2018.

Miss World 2018 is set for December 8 in Sanya, China after Miss World President Julia Morley signed the contract with Jiajun Li in March 2018.
Eswatini is currently not listed among the 99 countries which are  listed under confirmed participants.

Pageants Eswatini President Catriene Potgieter, in an interview with this publication, said the committee is yet to meet pertaining to Miss Eswatini’s participation in Miss World when asked if the newly crowned  Miss Eswatini Nosipho Dlamini will participate in the internationally renowned pageant.

When probed about the probability of Dlamini’s participation, she asked to comment no further, while emphasising that the committee was yet to meet.
In the meantime, Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture CEO Stanley Dlamini, told this publication that his entity was not involved in the planning of pageants.

“Please inquire with the organisers as we get information from them,” said Dlamini.

The last Miss Eswatini to attend Miss World was Nomphilo Mncina in 2009 and since then, no beauty queen in the country has seen the Miss World stage.
Some of the African countries which have been confirmed to participate this year are South Africa, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethopia, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and others.

The recent former Miss Eswatini Linda Hutchinson refused to comment when asked if she had hopes and/or she was promised to attend the ultimate pageant in the world.
