MANDISA AFRIMA AWARDS ‘BEST FEMALE’ NOMINEE

MBABANE – Africa as a whole is also recognising the talent that Eswatini artists have.


Eswatini pop singer Mandisa Mamba has been nominated at the AFRIM awards under the ‘Best Female’ category, awards that recognise African musicians so their theme is ‘All African Music Awards’.


Her nomination was revealed last week at a press conference at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria. In attendance was the AFRIMA jury as well as the African Union representative Angela Martins.


The ‘Hello America’ hit maker was nominated for her song ‘Party’. She is running against internationally renowned artists including Nadia Nakai, Rouge, gqom queen Babes WoDumo, Ammara Brown, award winning Shekinah and Ruby the pigeon.


Other big acts who have been nominated on these awards are Davido, WizKid, Nasty C and many others.
The ‘Phenomenal Party’ hit maker said this nomination was a great honour.


“I am humbled to be nominated with the biggest musicians in Africa. I am grateful and in awe of the fact that I am the first Eswatini artist to be nominated for such prestigious awards. I personally believe this nomination is not about me but about the country as a whole,” said Mamba.
She also said this is also a gauge on how far the country’s arts have Some.


“This is a really big deal for me and the country,” she said.
At the press conference which revealed the nominees, Mike Dada, president of AFRIMA, said the awards existed to celebrate African music and to portray the continent as having other things besides poverty and violence.
