MATSAPHA – An initiative which promises to promote and empower local individuals ought to be supported.

The latter statement proved to be true with Swazi MTN who officially declared their partnership with #GcwalisaMogambo, an initiative which was established in 2016 by rapper Sifiso ‘Illa Penboy’ Ndlangamandla.

The partnership was officially declared at the #GcwalisaMogambo launch which was at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha last Thursday.
However, Swazi MTN Senior Manager Brand Communications and Sponsorships Meshack Maseko, said they would not reveal the monetary terms of the partnership. All they could confirm was that the artists was one of their new brand ambassadors.

“We are also proud to formally announce that Illa Penboy is our official ambassador. We are optimistic that we will work well with him,” said Maseko.
Also present was Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture CEO Stanley Dlamini, who said they take pride in the fact that local artists are empowering each other.

“#GcwalisaMogambo is a great platform for local artists to showcase their talent while proving that Eswatini has massive creative minds. We are glad that an artist from the country took the initiative to create such a platform.

“Also, this event proves that emaSwati do not need to import artists all the time to entertain themselves. We wish this event a big success,” said Dlamini.
The host and pioneer of #GcwalisaMogambo, rapper Illa Penboy, said he was happy that corporate entities are recognising his work and getting involved with the arts industry in Eswatini.

“Supporting local and appreciating local talent is fundamental. Eswatini has to learn to appreciate it own and #GcwalisaMogambo is the place to do that,” said the rapper.
The #GcwalisaMogambo  concept  was established in 2016 and initially, it was called #FillUpMavuso and it has been hosted annually since then. This event seeks to promote local talent by incorporating local artists only in the line-up.
