E50 000 BOOST FOR SIBHACA /LUTSANGO COMPETITION 2018
MANZINI – Eswatini traditional dances are now a competitive sport and one can earn a living through them.
This is now possible because Corban Build Hardware have pumped in E50 000 towards sponsoring the 2018 Eswatini International Trade Fair (EITF), Sibhaca and Lutsango competition.
Corban Build Hardware Marketing Officer Jabulile Shongwe, who presented the sponsorship to Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), said they sponsored the seven day competition in the spirit of reviving the exciting sport in the Eswatini nation.
She said with the competition, they were hoping to afford the talented Emaswati a chance to showcase sheer talent and creativity through song and dance.
The E50 000 sponsored competition was for different categories; Sibhaca, Lutsango and schools Sibhaca team. Furthermore, Shongwe said since the nation was still celebrating its 50/50 Golden Jubilee, they encourage Sibhaca teams for legends to have at least a player that is 50 years old or more.
The marketing officer encouraged Sibhaca and Lutsango teams from across the Kingdom of Eswatini to join the competition. She said the exact dates for the competition qualifiers would be released in due course but it would be held around the end of August 2018. “If more teams participate, the company will be encouraged to increase the sponsorship package,” the marketing officer added.
She said in order for teams to compete, they would be required to participate and qualify in the elimination stage for both Sibhaca and Lutsango. She said all clubs should register its players with the management committee.
“On registration, a team is expected to furnish all particulars of players and photo identification, preferably a national identity card,” she said.
On that note, Shongwe said the registration fee would be E100 per team, which should be paid during the submission of the registration forms. These will be available a ENCAC offices in Manzini. She also advised the interested teams that make it to the Sibhaca elimination stage that they will be allowed to compete with a minimum of three players while Lutsango teams should have at least eight members. She emphasised that players to participate should be registered.
