VULAMASANGO SCOOP SWAZIBANK CHAMP OF CHAMPS 2018 TROPHY

MATSAPHA – Vulamasango High School are officially champions of the 2018 SwaziBank Schools Choral Music Competition.
The school, whose choristers are mainly inmates housed in Malkerns, displayed a splendid performance during the competition’s Champ of Champs finals held last Sunday.


Choral music lovers filled the Sports Emporium Hall as they wanted to see who this year’s champions would be.
While most choral music lovers anticipated that Vulamasango High School would win the competition from the very start, there was tight competition from the defending champions Therisian High School and  Siteki Nazarene High School.


Leading Vulamasango High School was none other than the ever smiling conductor Jockonia Madlazi who managed to maintain the quality of music produced by his choristers.


Excitement


For being champions, the school took home a sum of E10 000 something that brought excitement to the pupils.
The competition was tight with nine schools competing in the grand finale.


This year’s competition had a sponsorship amounting to E420 000.
The choristers were all out to impress the adjudicators as from the beginning of their performance they were brilliant and those who attended just loved it.


For Vulamasango to win, they needed 242 marks. Following were Siteki Nazarene with 228 marks. 
This is one school that surprised most music lovers as they were not expecting the school to give such a performance.


Managed


The choristers seemed to be all out to prove a point, something which they managed to do.
Coming third was the defending champions, Therisian High with 224 marks.


It was clear to everyone that any of the three schools would take the trophy home.
Adjudicating in this year’s finals were experienced adjudicators and these were Sydwell Mhlongo, Phindile Shongwe and Mhawu Mohale.


Competition


They mentioned that the competition was tight this year especially with the top three choirs.
The adjudicators felt that all the choirs sang well and were at their best.
