MBABANE – What is impossible with Top Models Eswatini models? Top Models Eswatini model Nolwazi ‘Snowee’ Simelane has proven that she is invincible by being given the role of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela during the Autumn/Winter 2018 version of Soweto Fashion Week.

This edition of this internationally renowned fashion show was themed ‘Mama Winnie’ and the Eswatini model was given the role to lead the part by being the showstopper of the Mama Winnie inspired designs.

According to the model, she is not sure of the criteria that was used that led her to be picked for such a great role.
“All I know is that most of the designers and other models vouched for me to take this Xhosa role in confidence and I did so not knowing that I was going to be received with warm hands,” she said.

Such strides are becoming a norm for the model as only two months ago, she was was made the showstopper for Ghanaians top designer known as Gavanchy and Romeo Paul at Accra Fashion Week in Ghana. The Accra Fashion Week happened from March 29 to April 1.
Simelane left watchers, designers and other models yearning for more as she was given a standing ovation on social media platforms.
“Snowee killed it,” read one post.

“Snowee thank you for taking me to my Xhosa roots. You represented,” read another post.
Simelane also played Mama Winnie with NicoStyle Designs who incorporated theatre into the runway.
“Acting might be my other venture,” said the model.

She also said she was grateful to represent Mama Winnie as she was a powerful woman with great honour. Winnie Mandela’s vibrant style which was Xhosa infused her message which was freedom. The South African freedom fighter, who was also the former wife of the iconic Nelson Mandela, died early this year at the age of 81 after an illness.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, she was mainly clad in her Xhosa inspired outfits, Che Guevera-style berets, matronly suits, ferocious animal prints, and all this depended on the political moment.

Top Model Eswatini Director Mbalenhle Manana said such achievements for her agency are humbling.
“We have achieved a lot in one year and all of these achievements are unbelievable. We are humbled and striving for more,” said Manana.
