MBABANE – Umbutfo Hlalakahle Maculuve’s decision to undergo the famous cultural ritual ‘Kubutseka’ (Coming of Age) has brought mixed feelings to gospel music lovers and the public at large.

Apostle Vusi Maculuve, a gospel artist and founder and leader of the God Cares Christian Fellowship Church is now a worrior after being accepted as part of Emabutfo.

Maculuve went through the ‘Kubutseka’ phase last Friday at the Engabezweni Royal Residence.
The apostle is now a fully fledged regiment as he joined the regiment known ‘Inyatsi Yamswati yase-Ngabezweni.”

While some praised him for taking such a decision, others did not understand why he had to take this route. Maculuve took social media by surprise as he explained the reason why he decided to take this route.  He made it clear that he was aware that a lot of people were accusing him for taking the step saying there was not a bad intention in doing this.

“Angitsatse litfuba ngikhulume ngekubutseka kwami ngenxa yalabanyenti lasebakhatsatekile ngalo baze basho lokunyenti (Let me take this opportunity to talk about my decision of becoming an umbutfo as a number of things are being said,” wrote Maculuve.

He added he was aware that most people thought he had certain intentions and it was the reason why he did this.  “Some people believe that I did this because I have an interest of becoming a politician while others feel my intention is to change my profession from being a teacher to become a soldier,” he said.

He added, “I did not do this because I want certain favours. The only thing I wanted was to understand myself and I am happy to say I now see that getting advise from some of the elders (Emajaha Lamadzala) has helped me.”

He said while he had no problem participating in the elections, he was not yet ready so people should stop judging him.
He made it clear that being part of the regiment does not mean that he has fallen from grace.

“Ekubutsekeni bangeluleke batsi kufuneka emandla nenhlonipho lokusho kutsi kuloko nekukholwa kuyafana ngase sontfweni, sidzinga emandla akho nekuhlonipha (I was advised to be trustworthy and put all my effort as I serve Their Majesties. It is the same like in church as respect and commitment are needed,” he said.

He made it clear that people should understand that the only reason that made him to take such a decision was the fact that he was a Swazi.
“I just love this custom, period,” he said.
