MBABANE – ‘Khulu’ugcobo’ was not the end game for gospel music singer Nothando Hlophe.

Barely six months after Hlophe’s ‘Khulu’ugcobo’ hit two million views on YouTube, her hit song ‘Sekukaningi’ has also hit the same mark on the same platform.

The video of the hit song ‘Sekukaningi’ has amassed one million views on YouTube.
This is a song that is led by a Swazi in Hlophe, and recorded live in Eswatini at Mavuso Trade Centre in May 2015.
It is part of the ‘Women in Praise Live in Swaziland’ project which went on to get Crown Gospel Awards and SAMA nominations in 2016.

Grown

The song has grown in popularity across the region and recently had the 10th Anniversary of the SABC Crown Gospel Awards themed ‘Sekukaningi’ from this song.
She was called upon to perform the song at the awards ceremony in Durban.
Leserato Events Manager Siphiwe Nxumalo said they were excited for Hlophe on this milestone she has achieved in the early days of her career.

“This is a great platform to build on for sure as it shows the direction her brand is taking. With more hard work, dedication, and focus, she definitely has a bright future.

“From the day she won the Women in Praise auditions, she has never looked back and we, as her management team, are proud of her and we look forward to seeing her realising her full potential,” she said.

Auditions

Incidentally, it is the same song that won her the ‘Women in Praise’ auditions.
