MBABANE – A pageant of good deeds. Miss Manzini Teen is back and it was successfully launched last Friday afternoon. The whole theme of the pageant is to keep the girl-child in school through lending a hand and helping with basic needs.

This event was meant to celebrate the second edition of Miss Teen Manzini. It was an event of about 60 people, mostly young people very intimate! The launch brought together patrons from various walks of life to interact with the Miss Teen Manzini crew, contestants, and a fusion of performances in the form of poetry and comedy.

Mandy the female comedian was the MC of the day. The event started at exactly 2pm and finished at 4pm. It was graced by Manzini Mayor Mxolisi Mabuza and Macford Sibandze to name a few. The mayor promised to support the project fully as it is something that will benefit the community of Manzini.

Mabuza went on to donate sanitary pads which will be distributed to five schools located in the rural areas of Manzini as per the Miss Manzini Teen theme.

“Our theme this year is KEEPING THE GIRL CHILD IN SCHOOL. We will take 30 per cent of the money we will get from ticket sales and buy sanitary pads which will be donated to five schools located in the rural areas of Manzini. After conducting research we discovered that a lot of young girls in the Manzini region end up not showing up for classes during that time of the month because they don’t have sanitary pads,”said  Miss Teen Manzini Director, Winile Mavuso during her speech.
