MBABANE – Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group is a hit in Zimbabwe.  The country’s leading gospel group is trending in that country’s radio stations.

Led by Reverend Elias Shongwe, the group has become famous through its latest song titled ‘Amagiya’.
The song is currently the leading song on Radio Zim. This is Zimbabwe’s main radio station and has a listenership of over two million people. The song is contained in the group’s latest album titled ‘Siyabonga Jesu’ which was released in January 2018.

The song was first played in the radio charts two weeks ago. It started at position 11 and it now sits at the number one spot.
The Gospel top 20 songs are played every Sunday morning.
During an interview Shongwe  said Zimbabwe had turned out  to be their second home, adding that people from that country had always been their loyal listeners.

Encourage

He said they would receive a lot of feedback during their trips to South Africa, where some Zimbabwean nationals would encourage them to visit their country.
“It is exciting to know that people from as far as Zimbabwe like our music. We have had calls and a few invites from Zimbabwe, and this has been a sign that we have a huge following in that country,” he said.

He said the group would be visiting Zimbabwe in August  2018 on a date to be confirmed, and during the visit they would also perform at different venues.

Finalising

“All I know is that Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group is expected to stage a performance in Zimbabwe. We are still finalising the dates with the organisers but what I know is that in August 2018, we are expected to stage a performance in Zimbabwe,” he said.
Shongwe thanked all those who had been supporting the group, saying Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group would not be where it was today without the support from the local fans.
