MBABANE – Ezulwini is getting a facelift. SWAKI has shown interest in making Ezulwini more beautiful by funding the revamp of the Ezulwini Handicraft Market, which has been ongoing for a while.

SWAKI did this by fully sponsoring Yebo ArtReach with material and other resources to make the revamp a success.
Ezulwini Handicraft Market is situated next to the Ezulwini road, and it is one of the most popular tourist attraction sites at Ezulwini.

Yebo ArtReach also partnered with Guba to supply indigenous trees to be planted at the centre, so that it will provide some shade and make the place look more beautiful while Star Paints will add colour and flair to the popular market place.

The project even incorporated eight artists who were paid by SWAKI, in working on revamping the market-place.
Dane Armstrong, the Director of Yebo ArtReach, said they were so happy to see a successful, creative collaboration between the market, SWAKI, Star Paint and eight local artists.

Noticeable

“Colour definitely changes the atmosphere of a place, and that is already noticeable at the Ezulwini Handicraft Market, as they have reported that the first big tourist buses they have ever seen started arriving after the mural was done,” said Armstrong.
Phindile Mamba, one of the artists said she enjoyed improving the market.
“I was so happy to hear women selling their products there saying since we started painting their place, tourists were visiting their stalls in numbers.

‘‘They thanked us a lot, saying their business would improve drastically. Happiness was written on their faces,” said Mamba.
