MBABANE – ‘Together we stand. Divided we fall.’ This quote has been taken into action by fine artists, who have established Swazi Artistry, the first association in Swaziland to house Swazi fine/visual artists.
Fine arts include paint, drawings and sculptures as per one of their pioneers, being Pablo Picasso from Spain.

Swazi Artistry was formally established on March 1 after talks which started last year in July by Swaziland’s celebrated fine art and sculpture artist Mphendvulo Dhlamini, who painted South African actor Sello Make KaNcube and presented it to him in 2015.

Swazi Artistry Chairperson Honest Mhlanga said the group was formed by individuals who are fine artists, who felt the need to be organised  in the country. Swazi Artistry aims at propelling better communication among artists and for organisational purposes.

“Also, we aim at working together as an organised group in art exhibitions,” said Mhlanga.
Also, Mhlanga said this was to promote fine artistry in the country, be it in the form of fine artistry or fine sculpture artistry.
“We also aim at bringing together fine artists in the country,” he said.

Mhlanga said they are yet to be in talks with affiliated groups like the Swaziland National Arts and Culture so that they are formally recognised.
