HLONI: FROM FUN LOVER TO WORKAHOLIC

From being the life of a party to being life to the office! This phrase deeply explains Hloniphile Matsebula’s life currently. Generally, people stop and reflect on their lives and assess what is what and if they really need everything that they have in their lives.

For some reason, Mother Earth has a way of humbling people and in the process, making them reassess their lives.
Hloni, the beauty from Siphocosini, who holds a Diploma in Business Management, is no different in this case. From being a lover of things and places, she turned that around to be a workaholic, who is holding down two jobs which are helping pursue her core dreams.

“Growing up, I thought that all that glittered was gold and I was almost definite about this. I was lured by things, friends and other aspects of life, which really do not matter if not pursuing your core purpose on this earth. Now I am convinced that I was lost,” said Hloni, on a sentimental one- on-one with GCWALA.

In this era, it is somehow one of the stages where the youth is lured by the disco songs and lights but in growth, many change for the better and shift their focus to what really matters to them.

In some cases, like in Hloniphile’s case, there has to be an incident that acts as a fulcrum in one’s life. The turning point! And in some instances, it is an incident that is unexpected but totally life changing. This beautiful lass’ future took a U-turn when he had his son who is three years old now.

“I started seeing life at a different angle during this time. I was isolated, alone and had ample time to think and think clear. I started seeing that all that glitters is actually not gold.
“I did self-talk and made a promise to myself that things have to start changing. I promised to find myself a job and make money for me and my son,” she said.

From then on, this now ambitious lass worked odd jobs that paid as little as E800 until 2016, where she got a job at one of the popular lodges as a Front Desk Manager.

“That is when my life changed as my salary was way more than the odd jobs I was doing. The very odd jobs that I am grateful for,” she said.
Currently, she is holding two positions in the same company and is able to juggle her time.

“I am an administrator and I am also a brand ambassador for another department in our company and that totals to two positions. I try to juggle the two because I am aware that a lazy mind is the devil’s workshop. I am trying to bury myself in my work and make extra money to advance my life,” she said.

Besides being a super mom, brilliant daughter and sister, Hloniphile is furthering her studies.
“Many things have changed you know. I realised that if I want to earn the money that I wish to or get the position that I want to or even open that business that I pray about, I need to further my studies. A lot changed for me 2016. Now, I cannot believe that I rarely have time to go out partying because of the way my life is so preoccupied. It just feels like I have rediscovered myself again,” she said.
Currently, she is also working on a manual for aspiring young entrepreneurs like herself.

ON FRIENDS...
Hloniphile said it is fundamental to be careful of who people surround themselves with because it either they can make or break a person.
“For me, it all went down south because of the company that I kept. It promoted the lifestyle that we lived and did not empower me positively. I recall having a friend who did not encourage me to keep indoors the time my son was young. In fact, she would insist that I get a stay in nanny so we continue harbouring our habits. These are the kind of friends that the youth should refrain from,” she said.

Kind of Friends To Keep According to Hloni:
l     Childhood Friends: These are the ones that you grew up with and can barely remember your life without. It is normal to separate with them when trying to pursue dreams but destiny always brings them back to your life.
l     Stress Reliever: This is the crazy but ambitious one. The one who talks crazy but is not meaning any harm to your life. The one who is there for make-up tips, hairstyle tips and fashion tips. The fun one.
l     The Confide: This kind of friend is there to give an ear to serious issues and always listens attentively. This is the friend who gives advice objectively and is able to keep ‘secrets’.
Friends to avoid:
l     The Fun Friend: This is the one who only calls on weekends when asking ‘what is happening?’.
l     “I need something” Friend: This one always calls when they are in need of something and never when they have anything to offer.
l     The Friend With Many Friends: This one can be a good friend but is gullible to gossip due to the exposure to different cliques who have different interests.

ON SPIRITUALITY...
According to Hloniphile, change has a lot to do with the change in spirit and focusing the spirit man to something. For her, one of her changing points was inclining herself to God.
“I had not seen the door to church since the age of 15 and somehow, I was totally okay with that as things were going ‘my way’. In 2016, I had a heavy load on my shoulders and automatically, I woke up and unceremoniously decided to go to church with my son.
“Life was spoken to me that I led myself to and still attend to this very day. I was told about my life and how to make a turnaround and I did just that,” jovially said the beauty as she said she is feeling lucky that she obeyed the commands from that day; the commands which she did not wish to reveal.
Today, Hloniphile is a happy single mother holding down two jobs and furthering her studies just because she obeyed God’s words.
“Even today, I am proud of the relationship that I currently have with God,” she said.
