MODELS WALK RAMP TO ‘JIKA’ SONG

MBABANE – From the United Kingdom, ‘Jika’ is infiltrating the deeper parts of Europe.

After rocking The United Kingdom’s radio stations through BBC Xtra, ‘Jika’, a song by local artists Tendaness and Bholoja, was played at the annual Mercedes Benz Russia Fashion Week last Wednesday.

The video of the Russian models walking down the runway while the siSwati song  ‘Jika’ played on the background was trending all over  social media mediums  namely, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

The first three months of the year are well known in the fashion industry as world renowned designers unveil their new collections.
Mercedes Fashion Week is one of the most prestigious shows that take place in New York, Russia, China, Australia and South Africa.
The music that is selected for the models to walk to on the runway is always newly released trending tunes.

‘Jika’ has definitely proved to tick all the boxes of the trend conscious fashion crew. This is the first local song to be used on an international runway.

Also, the song was used in a Delush Wine advert and this also trended on social media. Delush Wine is a winery company in South Africa which sells over 50 types of exclusive wines and is internationally recognised.

‘Jika’ was in the Top 2 on YFM Charts and it was Number One on BBC Xtra.
In fact, most of Tendaness’ tracks are being internationally recognised. Recently, ‘Tell Me’ was listed as number 40 last Saturday during the Africa Top 40 slot which plays between 8am and 11am every Saturday.

Also, the song was premiered on African Boom Box, a South African music website that is highly respected in Africa and beyond. Not only was it premiered but it was also applauded by the disk jockey, who stated that Tendaness was becoming reputable for his ‘killer’ tracks.

According to Tendaness’ management team member Sibusiso Simelane these achievements are humbling to the team and are proving Tendaness’ worth.
