MBABANE – A truly great DJ, just for a moment can make a whole room fall in love with music.
Most DJs say there is no greater feeling than to see a crowd of fun lovers dancing and approving their mixes on the night. Through their cheers, screams and dance moves, you get affirmation that whatever it is that you are serving them is good, in fact, it’s excellent.

When it comes to fun lovers who mainly are fans of deep house, they can attest to these kinds of affirmations that South African renowned DJ Christos experienced last Friday.  He headlined his own show at the newly revamped Déjà Vu  Lounge in Matsapha, Esibayeni Lodge.

The show, which started at around 8pm, attracted a crowd of close to 200 people who had all come to dance the night away and get to enjoy DJ Christo’s set. However, worth noting is the fact that local DJs did a good job, setting the clubbing mood as they took over earlier than the South African DJ. These included the likes of DJs Mistosoul, Cece, Fantasy, Yugo, Froogz and MBO.

The dance craze that had been bubbling on the background for a hot minute, proved to have taken over Déjà vu as fun lovers would now and again try out this new dancing style known as ‘vosho’.
When DJ Christos took over, one couldn’t miss it as the mood suddenly changed with the taste of music. Nicknamed ‘The Godfather’ of house, DJ Christos was behind the decks for a good five hours, making fun lovers sweat on the dance floor.
It was neither a first nor second time the DJ got to play at the popular hotspot, he has adopted it as his Swazi home as he is no stranger to the locals. This could be seen through his casual chatter with fans. He would mingle around the club, greeting and hugging people as if they were his longtime buddies, no bodyguards or security for this ‘homeboy’.

Speaking to the organiser, SwaziBoy Entertainment’s Mthunzi ‘Shadow’ Zwane, he said they were humbled by the support they kept receiving from fun lovers and also the artists who are always willing to play at their shows.
He further said the relationship that SwaziBoy Entertainment has with DJ Christos was beyond just music, as he has played a huge role into grooming the local stable’s DJs.
“He always gives out advice where needed in terms of how far the entertainment industry goes,” said Zwane.
The show ended at 4.30am, the early hours of Saturday morning, with a lot of fun lovers walking away from the club tired but attesting that they had their money’s worth.
