MBABANE – Honourary titles are now coming with tangible benefits in the local entertainment industry.

Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture CEO Stanley Dlamini revealed that artists who will be honoured as an ‘Artist of the Month’ will stand a chance to win cellphones and/or cash. Dlamini highlighted though, that SNCAC is still in talks with potential sponsors who will fund the prizes.

SNCAC, in celebration of the 50/50 Independence in the country, will now be honouring artists with and giving them the honourary title of ‘Artist of the Month’. Dlamini stated that they are doing this to incentivise hardworking artists.
This will happen from April until December this year and every month, a chosen artist will be awarded with the stated prizes. This honourary activity is not limited to artists only but is also open to fine artists, poets, choirs and any artistic entities.
Winners will be adjudicated by experts and chosen by the public through social network and other platforms which are yet to be released.

Dlamini also clarified that the artist does not need to be allied to any association, like the Swaziland Arts and Music Association and the Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland.
“I should highlight that by this, we are not encouraging artists to refrain from being under any association but we are just opening our doors to all artists in the country. “It is wise for artists to be under an association as they are protected and they stand a chance of being successful in the careers,” said Dlamini.
All the details to this new activity will be revealed on the day of the launch of NACA Awards nominations.
